AnyM at the Geneva Motor Show
We’ve just returned from another exciting year at the Geneva Motor Show. Nothing could hide the general consensus that emissions and economy were on the minds of every manufacturer.
This year saw the launch of the new 6 Series Grand Coupe. The name does give away most of it’s character, basically a luxury saloon packaged into a coupes body. Available in M sport guise from launch – personally we feel the M sport package should be standard on all models but at least it’s available from launch on this one.
Following on from there came the new F13 M6! Which can only be described as a work of art, it’s an absolute masterpiece! These photos do no justice. With it’s high revving V8 M TwinPower Turbo engine pushing 560bhp and signature M carbon roof, it’s clear to see BMW have produced once again.
Another significant part of the show saw BMW’s new M Performance Automobiles launched. This opens up a new product category in the line up – 4 new BMW top models powered my M: the M 550d Saloon and Touring, the X5 M 50d and the X6 M 50d. Highlights of this new category are a highly efficient yet rapid 6 cylinder in-line diesel engine exclusively developed for M Performance Automobiles along with an M tuned suspension set up. Unfortunately the latest reports say that BMW UK will only be importing the X5 and X6.
Finally massive coverage of the new F30 3 series, taking visitors through the new range of Sport, Modern and Luxury. Also the ActiveHybrid 3 is about to go into production.
To conclude, everything seems to be heading down 2 clear paths. M or EfficientDynamics and to be fair from what we saw we don’t have a problem with that at all!
